Tap In Coaching

Lead Yourself. Lead Others.

At Tap In Coaching, we believe Leading Others starts with Leading Yourself. We guide committed individuals along their path of self-discovery and growth to ultimately find at-work satisfaction and to uplift and inspire others.

What Drives Us

Early in my corporate career, seated at a company-wide meeting, our new CEO was responding to panel-proposed questions on his vision for the future. When asked what kind of leader he hoped to be, he said confidently, “I want to be a strong leader. I want to be a great leader. We need an organization of effective leaders.”

The room responded with feigned applause and nodding heads, but as the conversation moved on I was stuck. What does that answer even mean?

What does it mean to be a good leader? It’s a question that has guided me through much of my career. It’s the question that taught me to seek real answers, to dig beyond the subjective. I began to study workplace behaviors, seeking to understand leadership capabilities, and to look deeper into what really motivates and inspires us.

At Tap In Coaching, we believe becoming “a good, strong, effective leader” starts with learning to Lead Yourself. We start with open conversation. To build trust with your coach so that they may gain an understanding of your work life; motivators, challenges, and triumphs. Together we will define goals: short and long-term, personal and professional – everything is connected. We work to identify strengths and areas for growth using real and relevant scenarios of your day-to-day life. We serve as the vehicle along your road of self-discovery, building new habits and behaviors to reach your goals. Once you are able to apply your own set of internal skills to face the myriad of life’s turns, you can truly shepherd others along their own journeys.

In other words, Lead yourself, Lead others.

Our Leadership Philosophy

    Intrinsic Motivation

Humans are happy doing things they are good at. Find the strengths, communicate the value, and use them.

    Set the Example

Want your team to push through discomfort? Embrace change? Admit mistakes? Reach above and beyond? Show them how.

    Participatory

People work hard when they feel a connection to their goals. Motivate and give space for people to participate in their own journey.

    Emotional Intellegence

The art of understanding and managing our own emotions and those of others improves working relationships. The results outweigh the discomfort of doing the work to get there.

Our Process

  • Through casual conversation, we will capture current state sentiments, begin to build trust, and define a 'why'

  • Together, we will identify and accept existing strengths and skill gaps. We will review and understand existing organizational and personal goals.

  • Working together to devise and commit to goals, both professional and personal.

  • We will work through and reflect on previously identified activities, altering to fit the ongoing journey.

About the Founder

Hi, I’m Steph (she/her). It has taken me 15 years in the corporate world to admit that I was making too many compromises to find a satisfying work-life and it is time to do something about it. After tapping in to my intuition I realized my spurts of motivation stemmed from enabling someone else’s at-work satisfaction. So I decided to make a career out of it - to help others see what is holding them back and support subsequent steps to break through and start a chain reaction with their peers.

I’ve held various roles within human resources and, despite all the resources available to all the humans, I was always most interested in observing how the leaders around me approached the goals of their role and the impacts their actions had on both their people and their results.

At 24, and in my first management role, I curated my style based on what not to do from past leadership observation. Applying my learnings was trial and error - different communication tactics, motivational levers, stretch opportunities - but the core of my leadership style never wavered from putting the individual at the forefront of their own journey. My exposure to more effective leadership tactics – and some additional ineffective ones for good measure – continued, as did an increase in my responsibilities as a motivator and leader. Suddenly my path became clear.

I am here to support a new generation of leaders; people-first leaders who know that without motivated and engaged staff there is no product and no profit. These are committed professionals who are dedicated to inner work and know that in order to lead others, you must first lead yourself. I dream of a leadership revolution that creates at-work satisfaction, productive individuals & teams, and desired business results.

I hope you’ll be a part of the movement with me.

Testimonials

Sabraé Boisvert, Claims Manager

“Stephanie has been an influential part of my tenure as a young leader in corporate America. I was engaged in a mentorship relationship with Stephanie early on as a new leader and the advice and influence Stephanie has had on my career has been instrumental. Our conversations have been valuable, relatable, and thought-provoking, yet challenging (in all the right ways). Not only has our mentorship helped guide me along my professional journey, but our conversations have been personal and friendly and I have seen and felt the growth even outside of the office. I have integrated many of my learnings from my mentorship with Stephanie in my day-to-day as a leader and I am extremely grateful for all that Stephanie has offered and taught me throughout our time together”

Isabel Blamer, Senior Compensation Professional

“For the past 5 years, Steph has served as a professional mentor and coach for me. She has a special way of intentionally listening to how I’m thinking and feeling about my career, understanding the growth I’m working towards, and opening doors that led me to achieve that growth. She’s incredibly observant and continuously encourages me in my areas of strength that are unique and specific to me. Steph is always willing to be a sounding board whether I’m making a pivotal career decision or just brainstorming ideas for my next move. She’s been instrumental in my career and I’m so grateful for her presence as I’ve evolved as a working professional.”
